Then they said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us as he talked to us on the road and explained the scriptures to us?” Luke 24: 32

Recently I (Fr. Alan) have been reading through Henri Nouwen’s book With Burning Hearts.

My heart certainly burns with an inward passion for our lives together at Saint Mary the Virgin. We have exciting times ahead of us, especially as we look toward our future mission and ministry.

For over a century, Saint Mary’s has been a beacon of Hope, Grace and Joy, in Chappaqua, and beyond.  We also live in a very divided time in our country and world. Through our commitment to St. Mary’s, we bear witness to our Christian faith of standing with the poor, the disabled, the vulnerable and those in need.

Our inclusive faith community continues to command an important place in Chappaqua through our Liturgy and worship, music and the arts, outreach, Christian education for children and young people, formation for all ages and our spiritual presence.

I sincerely believe that we have the capacity and the intention to continue our legacy as a vibrant and resourceful parish in our call to serve all God’s people.

I invite you to prayerfully consider investing your resources of time, talent and treasure for the benefit of our great parish, as we seek to be obedient to the Gospel of Jesus.

Your gracious generosity in making an annual pledge commitment will enable the Parish to continue radiating Hope, Grace and Joy in Chappaqua and beyond.

Your gift is precious, and I am convinced that with your help and God’s grace, we shall continue to “have our hearts burn”, in our sincere endeavor to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ from generation to generation.

We encourage you to give from your substance, as together we respond to the generosity of our Holy God.  Thank you to all those who have fulfilled their pledge, and to those who have made special gifts. If you did not pledge, consider a generous year-end gift to St. Mary’s.

Please fill out the pledge card you receive in the mail and return it before Commitment Sunday. (Pledge cards will be placed on the altar on this Sunday and blessed as our commitment to God and in support of our ministry and mission.)

If at all possible, please increase your pledge by 20% or more over what you gave last year to avoid a potential gap in our operating budget and ability to continue our programs and services.

On behalf of the Vestry - thank you!

Yours sincerely in Christ Jesus,

The Reverend Canon Alan Dennis, Rector
